My Family Tree

You can browse my family tree as far as I have researched it, to a marriage in 1675, *here*. My father's family (Fearnley) came from a little hamlet to the west of Ashton-in-Makerfield in Lancashire, my mother's paternal line (White) hails from a small village to the west of Sidmouth in Devon whilst her maternal line is from Lewes in Sussex.

If you are researching Fearnleys in the general area of Wigan, Asthon-in-Makerfield and Winwick and think you might link into my tree, please get in touch using the webmaster link below. I would like to widen my tree by adding distant cousins, etc.

You can obtain copies of my Parish Record research from my Download page.

I was born, raised and still live in Surrey. To view my tree and where I fit into it, follow the link above, go to Fearnley and find Robert.

Looking for and trying to prove ....

I am currently trying to resolve the puzzle below. If you have any research or records that may help I would be very grateful to hear from you.

I have worked my way back to a John Fearnley who married Ann Wittle (possibly Whittle) on 30 Nov 1675 in Winwick, Lancashire. So far as I can ascertain John was the first Fearnley in this area (I have checked most of the surrounding parish records). The nearest match I can find is John, born 14 Dec1654 in Nantwich, Cheshire - not a stone's throw away - but is he the one? Looking in Yorkshire at this time there are several possiblities but would a Yorshireman have moved to Lancashire in the middle of theWars of the Roses? It seems unlikely.
